There's snow place like home........

The challenge this week on Lucy's blog HERE is colors (kraft, pink & turquoise). I purchased this cute little Stampendous clear set "Snow Place" a little while back and this challenge inspired me to put the stamps to paper.

I love snowmen (and snowwomen, or is it snowpeople, whatever:). I have a collection of all types of snowmen, last count was about 35 and I get a new one each year. So, needless to say snowmen stamps are my favs for the holidays.

Hi

I have not posted a card to my blog in a while, busy making cards for a craft fair on December 4. So, I will post 2 pictures taken Saturday at the Air Force / Army football game at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. One of the pictures is Mike and I the other is of me and my 2 co-workers. Mike and I go to the inter-service game every year, they always have the best fly-overs at the game and we LOVE football. Mike was a medic in the Army, drafted right out of high school back in 1972, so of course we were rooting for Army, hate to admit this, but Air Force won. The games are fun, every time a score is put on the board the kids get out on the field and do push-ups totalling the score. Fun time for all :)

The Hero Arts challenge this week is to use torn paper; I chose 3 different papers to tear for this card, the bird paper, another DP and chocolate brown paper.

I just love polka dot paper and this Heidi Grace double-sided dot paper is one of my favs. I have used this paper quite a bit and have many scraps, all used on this card. The cling stamp is from Hero Arts, Jennifer McGuire and Shari Carroll presented some cling stamps to the Flickr members when we met for dinner at ScrapFest 2009 in Minnesota and this was the fun cling stamp I received. Items used: Hero Arts hello cling stamp, Heidi Grace DP, jute twine, pearls. Colored w/ watercolor pencils.

40th Birthday Invitation

A co-worker of mine has asked me to make invitations for her husband's 40th birthday. Here's a first draft. Still deciding what info we will put on the slide out card, most likely: date, time, location and for. Her husband is an avid bike rider so I used the little bike stamp I had on hand. This stamp is actually a women's bike w/ a basket full of flowers. I improvised and put the 40 over the basket and added a cross bar to the bike and Viola, a guy's bike :)

ATCs (Artist Trading Cards)

The Hero Arts challenge this week is to make ATC's. At first I was surprised by the small size of these little cards (2.5" x 3.5"). But, once I made one, I was hooked. We are also having an actual trade of "friendship" ATC's through the Hero Arts Flickr group which will start real soon. The idea is to make 10 ATC's w/ a friendship theme and send them in. The ATC's will be sorted and you will receive 10 back. I cannot wait to see the little pieces of art everyone comes up with. All Hero Arts stamps used for the above ATC's :)

Pumpkin Pups

Here'a another Penny Black stamp I just had to have. PB makes the cutest animal stamps and I have yet to see one I didn't want to add to my collection. This cute, little Pup balancing the pumpkin on his nose is one of my favorite Halloween stamps. I have used diamond glaze on the pumpkin and the pup's tongue, it's hard to see the effect of this w/ this picture, but it does give the card a special touch. Items used: Penny Black 2535J Pup-o-lantern stamp, Hero Arts CL238 boo owl-oween stamp, designer paper, twine, diamond glaze.

Pretty medallion

K Werner had a beautiful card on her blog a few weeks ago using the Stampin' Up Medallion stamp used here. I was so taken w/ K's card I decided to make one of my own and here it is. Items used: Hero Arts CG115 thank you and F5233 Scallop circle stamps, SU medallion stamp, ribbon and pearls.

ScrapFest 2009 in Minnesota :)

I attended Archiver's ScrapFest 2009 at Mall of America in Bloomington, MN last week. What a blast, so many vendors with wonderful make and takes. I was able to meet a number of my Hero Arts Flickr group friends - Sally, Linda, Jenn, Anita and Liz. On Saturday night we had dinner w/ Jennifer McGuire, Shari Caroll, Kelly Rasmussen, Tami Hartley, Carol and Rachel from Hero Arts. The folks from Hero Arts were so friendly and fun to have dinner with, we all had a wonderful time.

The Mall of America is "Mall on Steroids" and although I didn't get to fully check out the Mall, I was able to buy some shoes, shirts and trinkets for home.

I can't say enough about everyone I met and ScrapFest itself. I may go again next year, have plenty of time to decide :)

Alaric follow-up

We picked up Alaric's ashes yesterday. We are going to spread his ashes on our property. Mike would spend hours training him w/ barn pigeons on our property and Alaric spent a very happy, long life here. Our dog, Pearl knows he's missing. They spent all of their time together, running in the fields, chasing rabbits and barking at the wind. Every morning when I would put them out, Pearl would run out first, but always stop and look back for her buddy, Alaric. Time will pass and we will all move on, however we will miss our sweet boy :(

August 15, 2009

Our Alaric

We are going to send our lovely boy Alaric to heaven today at 3:00 pm. Alaric is 14 years old and it's time. Alaric is a Large Munsterlander, a versatile hunting dog. From the time he was just a few weeks old it was easy to see hunting was in his genes. We would put a bird feather on the end of a fishing line and his little puppiness would point. My husband hunted pheasant, chuckers, quail, you name it w/ Alaric for many years and he always did his job in the field. He's a lovely dog and we will miss him terribly. Alaric xoxo
