Pie Lady

This week's challenge at the City Crafter Challenge Blog  is "Bake Sale".  I remembered a sheet of Graphics 45 designer paper I had with old fashion ladies on it and the "Pie Lady" on my card is one of them; what do you think?

I cut this pretty lady out of the paper, added a cherry gem, some little red gems and a sentiment stamp by Hero Arts.

I think of myself as a pie lady because I love to make pies.  My husband recently brought home 10 lbs of cherries and I made a few pies and a few cobbers much to the delight of my husband Mike, my friend Therese and my co-workers.  Then I purchased a large box of Palisade peaches and plan to make the same with the peaches this week-end.  All I can say is YUM.

Thanks for visiting my blog today and reading my pie story :)

Relax

I relax by making cards and hanging out with my husband, my dogs and my crazy cat.  I do, I come home from work and when I top the hill and see the moutains in front of me and know I'm almost home, all the stress of the day melts away.  Well, the cue card at CAS-ology this week is the word "RELAX".  I immediately thought of this digital stamp called "making cards" by Mo Manning, check it out HERE.  Mo's stamps are wonderful and I just love Bella and Bronte, they remind me of me, I've always had dogs and just love them.  Anyway, I'm kinda blabby today, here's my card for the challenge:

Banners & Flags

Banners & Flags are the inspiration for the challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays this week. I chose to make a birthday card for this challenge.
The banners are from a 6x6 paper pad, Dear Lizzy Neopolitan. I thought the rows of little banners went so well with this cute little plane and clouds from Lawn Fawn. The sentiment is from Hero Arts; added a few gems and a card is born :)

Wishi Washi

Washi tape, the newest craze in crafting isn't it?  I like creating with these pretty tapes.  The challenge at the City Crafter challenge blog this week is "Wishi Washi".  We are to use washi tape on our creations and to make the challenge more interesting you can add only 2 other items besides the tape, so I added gems and ribbon. I used a green & white striped tape for my birthday card, the stamps are Hero Arts.

Thank you for stopping by today :)

Green - Yes Green

My card will be entered in 2 challenges this week, CASology and the Play Date Cafe.  Both challenges revolve around the color green, the cue card at CASology is just that "green" and the photo inspiration at the Play Date Cafe has a splash of color - lime green.

I masked a square to stamp the friends background and drew a little dashed frame around the print.  Here's my card:
Items used: Hero Arts friends background stamp, Memory Box Darla butterfly die, ribbon, gems and design paper.

Less is More - Week 81 - Theme

This week's challenge at Less is More is a theme challenge and the Theme is Tearing.  I have always liked torn edges on cards, at one time made quite a few cards with this theme.  I'm so happy Chrissie and Mandi presented this theme this week and knew right away what I would do, take a look:
A while back, Jacqueline , another stamper who's cards Wow me every time sent me wine labels from France, yes she lives in France.  One label is prettier than the next and even though I hesitated to tear one of the beautiful labesl, I did and my card is the result.  Very simple indeed, just the torn label and a ribbon and bow.

Retrosketch #25

The sketch over at Retrosketches this week presented a challenge to me, not sure why, just did.  I made 3 cards from this sketch and finally selected this card to add to the challenge:
I know, a little bit bright isn't it?  Well, what the heck, it's summer, the sun is shining here in beautiful Colorado and all is well in the world :)

Items used: Memory Box Darla butterfly die, Hero Arts sentiment stamp, LaBlanche sunflower stamp (on the butterfly wing), design papers, button, twine and gems.

Time for School

This week's cue card at the Casology challenge blog is "School".  Well, it is that time of year isn't it, kids returning to school, school books, laptops, lunches......   For my card I've used a cute little stamp set from Stampendous called book border:
I added the little apple from the same set and covered it with glossy accents, unfortunately you can't see the shine in this picture.  I also added one of the little SU clips and the sentiment from the set.  All are made colorful with watercolor pencils.

On the Pond

I just love Toads, I do.  We have a family of Toads that live in our yard, very strange indeed for dry, semi-dessert, foothills Colorado.  But they do live here and they come out at night.  Momma toad just had a baby toad, the cutest little thing you've ever seen.  I must try to get a picture of them, but I'm not the best photographer and a night photo, well we'll see.
Given my love of the Toads living in my yard, the sentiment is perfect for this little scene.  I used watercolor pencils and added 2 little gems to give some shine.

One Layer - Fur or Feathers

A one layer card featuring Fur or Feathers is the challenge this week at Less is More.  One layer cards definately challenge my creativity and as time goes on I am becoming more comfortable making one layer cards. I chose to go with feathers for my card:
The stamps are from Memory Box.  These stamps were made for my favorite stamp store Simple Pleasures in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  I made a mask for the backgroud that is inked with tumbled glass and dusty concord distress inks. And a card is born :)

The Cupcade Thief

This cute, little Cupcake Thief by Mo Manning is such FUN!!  I've made this card with her and her delicious cupcakes for 2 challenges this week, Challenge #144 at the Play Date Cafe and the Sketch #24 at Retro Sketches :
Here's the sketch and the color inspiration for this card from the challenges:

Another card with watch gears in blue & green

I'm so happy I added this Hero Arts watch gears stamp to my ever growing stamp collection. Again is used distress inks for the background, added a few gems, buttons and a sentiment.

Watch gears in blue & green

Blue & Green are the colors for this week's challenge at Less is More.  The blue and green background for this card was made by inking an acrylic block with the 2 colors of distress ink, spraying with water and placing a piece of white card stock on top.  I added this Hero Arts watch gears stamp in black ink, a get well soon sentiment and a few brads to make my card:

Me & You Friend

This week the Case Study challenge blog turns 2 and in addition to a fabulous blog hop, the challenge is "show us your signature style".  I had to think about this a little, what's my signature style?  After some thought it was easy to see my signature style is "clean lines" and "layers". I made this card yesterday for a scramble at the Hero Arts Flickr group and thought this shows my style so well, so here's my card:

I used all Hero Arts stamps for this card, 3 dotted flowers, all occasion greetings and Friends backgroud, Graphics 45 papers and a button.  Thanks for stopping by :)

Retro Sketch #22

I know I've said this before but I must say it again, I just love these little hand drawn sketches at Retro Sketches.
The design team always comes up with the nicest cards and the inspiration just flows.  I recently added a few little Lockhart stamps to my growing collection and chose to use this chicken in all her finery for the card:
Happy stamping and thanks for stopping by today :)
