New stamping stuff

Took a visit to my LSS yesterday and added many new items to my stamping collection. Memory Box dies are on a roll, so many new dies and of course I want every one of them. Bought a few, will have some cards posted later this week. I added 2 new stamps, this Memory Box dogwood branch stamp and this nice, little thanks stamp. I paired the 2 up for the challenge over at the Play Date Cafe this week. Here's the inspiration photo: and here's my card: I die cut the little flowers with a new MB die cut (just love this one)and added a few gems ;)

A movie theme is the challenge this week at Casual Fridays. the challenge is to make a card inspired by a movie. I chose the movie "The Jazz Singer" with Neil Diamond. I think the story is somewhat about Neil Diamond's life. I chose this cute image by Mo Manning for my card. This is without a doubt my favorite MM digi stamp, I just love Bella and Bronte, and both of them "jamming" is too adorable. I'm entering this card into 2 challenges this week, the first is the Valentine challenge over at Tiddly Inks; this digi stamp is a Tiddly Inks stamp. I'm also entering this card to the challenge over at the Play Date Cafe. The challenge is to create a card using the pretty colors in this photo:

Some time ago I added this pretty tea cup of hearts to my stamp collection and when I saw the challenge I knew this was the digi stamp I was going to use. Here's my card:
I colored the digi stamp with watercolor pencils, added pearls, lace, glaze, a Hero Arts sentiment stamp, some DP and done :)

I love the different shades of purple; espcially eggplant, such a deep, rich, beautiful color.
This week's challenge at the Play Date Cafe is the use the colors plum, pear and moldy cheese I took the moldy cheese to be a blueish sort of color, and so did the DT at PDC; see the inspiration photo.

The challenge over at Casual Friday's this week is "penguin suit" alias "black & white". We are to only use black and white on our creation, no other colors at all. I love my new Memory Box Darla Butterfly die and again have teamed it up with my Memory Box Garden Cutout background stamp to create this pretty butterfly b & w card: Added a little b & w twine and a few pearl gems and it's a wrap :)

o.k. I am in Love with Memory Box dies. On Saturday I took a ride to my favorite craft store in Coloraso Springs, Simple Pleasures, and added 2 of the dies to my collection. This card is made with the Darla Butterfly die, I took inspiration for this card from one of the many Lovely cards in the shop: As I was looking through all of the fabulous card blogs I saw that Our Creative Corner is having a Design Team call. I've thought how challenging and exciting it could be to be on a design team, so I'm going to enter this card into the call. Please wish me luck! This week's challenge at Less is More is to make a one layer card, the subject is birds. You must check this challenge out; so many lovely cards. Just goes to show you can make wonderful cards without all the glitz, ribbons, gems and design papers (although I love these things :). I thought I'd take the "fun" path with my card, I just love these 2 chicks. Items used: Hero Arts chatting chicks and sentiment stamps, gems, watercolor pencils.

The main image stamp on this card is another favorite; anything including a dog, especially a dog having fun with a bunch of parading kids is just so cute. I made this card for a chipboad challenge over at Lily Pad Cards presented by Simon Says Stamp. I curled the edges of the music stamped paper by rolling the paper around my thin pen. Items used: Hero Arts It's a parade stamp and music background stamp, twine, chipboard glittered hearts and polka dot DP.

Have you ever had pretty patterned paper in your stash that you look at and look at but never use. A paper you love, just don't want to cut it, just want to admire it. Well, I finally used this beautiful Cosmo Cricket paper and now I'm wondering what took me so long. Today's 90 minute scramble at the Hero Arts Flickr group gave me the push I needed and I'm so happy with the result, here it is: Items used: Hero Arts stencil flower cling stamp and sentiment stamp, Cosmo Cricket DP, heart button, twine and a fiskars punch.

Hero Arts has their new 2012 catalogue and stamps out!! All I can say is wow, please let the trees in our yard start growing money :) I went to Archiver's yesterday for the HA release party and bought 3 new HA stamps. Of course I wanted to buy more, but I had to reign myself in. Here's a card made with one of my favorite new stamps, Flower Border, just love it. I like to put brown and turquoise together, kinda a classic, cool look.

I made this pocket card for Jessica, she is marrying James in April 2012. Jessica is one of my closest friends, Therese, daughter. I was straightening out my craft room today and came across this piece of Graphics 45 poppy paper. Poppies are one of my favorite flowers and this paper is one of my favorite Graphics 45 papers. I just played around with some doilies I had sponged with antique linen distree ink a while back and came up with this little number. I like it, hope you do too. A Bird Tree

I printed this 1870's children's school book image on my card from The Graphics Fairy blog. If you have never visited Karen's blog, please do yourself a favor and check it out.

The 2 week challenge at the Play Date Cafe is the use the colors maroon, copper and tumeric on your card (or craft). I have been waiting to use this wonderful bird tree and thought the colors for the challenge gave this pretty tree just the life it needed.
I weathered the edges and scuffed the image with antique linen distress ink, added some jute and brown twine and a pretty little flower button and done. TY for taking a peek :)

I made the card in this post using this week's challenge sketch over at Casual Fridays When presented with a nice, simple, clean sketch it's easy to come up with creative ideas, I chose to make a Christmas card for the challenge: There was a time I would not use brown on a Christmas card, I'm happy that time has passed. I like adding brown, it give's the card a more earthy feel. Items used: Stampin Up Christmas tree stamp, Basic Grey DP, gold gems and ribbon.

I continue to make Starbucks Christmas cards. I have been so inspired by the images on Starbucks to-go cups. Fortunately the people I work with drink a lot of this coffee ($3:00 plus a cup). I love this ice skating image. I grew up ice skating in the winter, we skated outside at Grover Cleveland Park. There was a little house next to the pond where we could go inside to get warm and put our skates on. The park staff (or volunteers, not really sure about this) always gave us free hot chocolate while we skated. I loved doing the whip and flying into the snow on the side of the pond, what fun and fond memories I have of winter :)

When I saw these 2 inspiration photos for this week's challenges over at the Play Date Cafe and Case Study I first thought of a nice cold, tall glass of chocolate milk with chocolate chip cookies, and then I thought the card by Nikki Estes provided the perfect sketch for a card that came into my mind.

Autumn is my favorite time of year. I love the crisp air and the beautiful changing of the leaves. The colors of Autumn are among my favorites and I find it easy to make a card with the warm, earth tones of Autumn. The sweet days of summer is the challenge this week at The Shabby Tea Room. This challenge asks that we use the colors pink, peach, green and neutral and also a handmade flower on our card. Peach and pink go so well together and I had this pretty DP from Graphics 45 to dress up my card.
I found this pretty My Mind's Eye crochet trim the other day at Archiver's and I'm so happy I took some home with me. The little felt flower is from Pebbles, a little jute twine bow and a card is born. Enjoy!

CR84FN Color Challenge 36

I do love color challenges, they get my imagination going in directions it doesn't always go. I'm a green, blue and brown girl, seem to gravitate towards these 3 colors over and over again. This week's color challenge at CR84FN is yellow, kraft and neutral. The kraft paper is close to my brown comfort zone and I am very happy with the result here: Items used: SU brads and stamps, ribbon and DP. 4 items and a card is born :)

The August challenge at Hero Arts is three-fold: Creatures and Cards for Kids and the technique, Making a Scene. I have been absent from the Hero Arts challenges for some time, but I'm back and I love this month's challenges. My first 2 cards use the technique portion of the challenge and here are my little scenes:

I have enjoyed banner cards and this is my first. I think I'm hooked, I'm sure more banner cards will follow. And, this little HA deer has been among my favorite stamps for some time, no matter when I stamp him, I'm happy with the result.

Back in business

Well, I'm feeling fine and back in the card making biz. I made this card for my husband to send to some NAVHDA folks in Wyoming who hosted the test and Mike and some other folks. NAVHDA is the North American Versitile Hunting Dog Association. Mike took Angus, our Large Munsterlander, to Wyoming for his natural ability test and I must say our little boy did very well. He's a natural and the NA test is simply that, natural ability. The dog must point, track, retrieve from the water and other wonderful traits all hunting dogs should possess. O.k. I admit it, I'm a paper addict. I love designer paper and cant seem to get enough of it (if you're looking at my blog, chances are you have this problem too :). Anyway, Graphics 45 has such fabulous papers, I love the style and images from Graphics 45. Here's a card i put together tonight with one of these fabulous papers (the 3 little fairies). I have never been a big fan of plaid, plaid anything - just don't care for it. So, when I bought a pack of Memory Box paper I thought what am I going to do with the 2 6x6 pieces of plaid paper in the pack. Well, I have finally used it and it's not so bad after all. Challenge 80 this week over at The Play Date Cafe is a color challenge, check it out. One of the challenges this week over at Lily Pad Cards is this color palatte: I'm sorry to say I messed up with the colors, I thought the light pink was a light yellow, so just switch those colors out for my card :( The image I chose for this challenge is one of my favorites "Bella and Bronte" a Mo Manning digital image you can find HERE I just love Mo Mannings art work, her little dog Bronte reminds me of my sweet dog Pearl; they both have little round, tank bodies and skinny legs (just adorable they are). So, I'm taking a little break. Just wanted to let you know I'm here, just so busy with work and getting the house ready for summer haven't had the time to post to my blog. I did take the "Box of Blossoms" class at my local Archiver's last week-end and just love the results. Have noticed hand-made flowers for some time and have finally learned how to make a few.
