Pride & Prejudice - 200

Jane Austen's book Pride & Prejudice was  written 200 years ago and the City Crafter blog is celebrating by hosting a challenge  to create a "project inspired by Jane Austen. It doesn't have to be related to one of her novels, it can be anything you feel like it fits in the Jane Austen theme. I'm thinking Regency fashion, bonnets, laces, you name it".

I have read a few Jane Austen books in my day and Emma is one of my favorites, I just love the interesting characters in this comical tale.  I recently printed the main image on my card from the Graphic Fairies blog and when I saw the challenge I knew this was the image I wanted to use.

I dusted everthing with antique linen distress ink and put some pink color on the flowers, bonnet and cheeks of this pretty vintage lady using watercolor pencils.  I also used Graphics 45 Ladies diary and Secrety garden papers & stickers.  Finished the card off with some ribbon, twine and a little butterfly trinket.

Now, sit down with a nice cup of tea and a good book.  If you're lucky, the cat will join you to keep you toasty.

Thanks so much for stopping by today :)

A birthday card for Ginny

No matter how many birthday cards I make, I never seem to have enough.  I like to make all kinds of birthday cards, not just cakes, candles and balloons.  Now don't get me wrong, I like cakes, candles and balloons, but whenver I try to use these images on cards my mind goes blank.

I made this card for one of my co-workers, Ginny.  I took inspiration for my card from the "case" card over at the challenge blog Case Study.  Here's my card:

I used paper from Little Yellow Bicycle called simply "Poppy".  Stamped the happy birthday, added a wooden butterfly, a few gems and a twine ribbon.  Done :)

Here is the inpiration card from Case Study:

Just Us Girls 191

I'm sure I've said this before, sketch challenges are among my favorites and here is the sketch for this week's challenge at Just Us Girls:

The image I used for my card is from the Graphic's Fairy blog, the papers are from Graphic's 45.  I used the sketch for the card design and added some lace, ribbon, paper lace and a button for the finishing touch.

A pretty, little vintage card :)

Did you say Burlap?

This week's challenge over at the City Crafter Challenge Blog is called "Burlap Love".  Yup, that's the challenge, use burlap on our creations.  Back in February I purchased some grass green burlap and thought it would go nicely with this paper I recently purchased:

Burlap is fun to use on a card as it adds a touch of texture.  Believe it or not this is the first I have used this green burlap and I'm so happy the challenge inspired me to use it.  I think I'm on to something here, more burlap cards to come :)

Items used:  Hero Arts stamp - apples and sentiment, Doodlebug Designs fruit stand double-sided paper, burlap, ribbon and watercolor pencils.

Thanks for stopping by.  Enjoy an apple why don't ya :)

I took inspiration not only from the pretty flower colors, but from the grey and white polka dots and the touch of turquoise:

A few cards....

It's been some time since I last posted some cards.  Not sure why, just busy I guess.  Or maybe too lazy, that's it I have been busy & lazy at the same time.  Anyway here are a few cards I made recently:

1. Lawn fawn stamps, love this little set of paper airplanes:

2. Flower background from the Graphics Fairy blog.  Butterfly is a Kaiser Craft stamp.

3. New set for me from Paper Smooches.  Design paper from Amy Tangerine.
