Back to Basics & Beyond - Stamping off the edge

For our challenge starting today at Back to Basics & Beyond we would like to see your cards with "stamping off the edge".  My DT card is cut 1/4 inch shorter on the top panel and the rope stamping is hanging over the edge.  Here is a video to show another off the edge technique:

Back to Basics & Beyond - Nail Polish Art

Hi there, we have a new challenge at Back to Basics and Beyond - Nail Polish Art technique.  As this technique was new to me, I visited the following link for instruction:

For my DT card I marbled the nail polish in water, dunked my card stock and viola!  I used three different shade of pink nail polish (one very shiny) and regular white card stock. Watercolor paper may work better as the card stock needed extra care to flatten.  The ballerina die is from Memory Box'

Back to Basics & Beyond - Shrink Plastic Card

We have a new challenge starting today at Back to Basics & Beyond - Shrink Plastic.  I was not familiar with this and had fun creating my DT card with a stamped horse using Shrinky Dink.  The instructions on the package said to use alcohol ink or markers to color the image, but I used water-based paint and the horses color came out o.k.

Easter Gate-Fold Card

Back to Basics & Beyond - Use A Spray

We have a new challenge at Back to Basics & Beyond, challenge #26 - Use A Spray.  This can be a spray on your card using mica, bleach, inks, it's your choice.  I made my spray background by dipping my paintbrush in very moist watercolors and tapping my brush to get the spray effect.

The adorable crabs with the donuts and coffee cups are from The Rabbit Hole designs, so is the sentiment.  The little seashell dies are from Ellen Hutson.

For my DT card I used a new stamp from The Rabbit Hole, isn't she something with her curlers and coffee cups :)  The image is colored with Zig clean brush markers.  That little molecule in the upper left corner is a caffeine molecule, I thought it was so clever for the rabbit hole to include the molecule with the stamp set.  And of course the hash tag: #overcaffeinated, the little Octo says it all.

Back to Basics and Beyond - Shaker Card

We have a new challenge at Back to Basics and Beyond today - Shaker Cards.  There are so many YouTube videos with Shaker card instructions, click  HERE for one by Kristina Werner.

I used a funny stamp from Gourmet rubber stamps for my image and sentiment; then added both star and circle sequins to the shaker window to match the stars and colors of the designed paper.

For my DT card I chose pearls, flowers and the color blue

Back to Basics & Beyond - Pop-up Box

Welcome to our new challenge at Back to Basics and Beyond, the challenge is to make a Pop-Up Box.  For my DT card I used a Sizzix die for the box itself and then colored and fussy-cut the little gnomes, sentiments, flowers, mushrooms and snails.  The stamp set is by My Favorite things, You Gnome Me.

Back to Basics and Beyond - #20 Salt Technique

Our challenge this week at Back to Basics and Beyond is challenge #20 - Salt Technique. 

For my DT card I used an old set of watercolor paints I had on hand to create my background and softly dried the background with a paper towel before sprinkling table salt all around.  After the paper was dried I used a soft brush to remove the salt and my background was done.

Back to Basics & Beyond - #19 Shaped Card

We have a new challenge at Back to Basics & Beyond , challenge #19 - Shaped card.  You can use any shape you'd like just not a square or a rectangle.

For my first design team card, I chose a mason jar template as the shape.  I stamped my image and colored it with Arteza watercolor pencils.  Then I added a shell die cut, some pearls and a silver ribbon.
